ESM Chaperone Leads Session at MAPCCS Annual Conference

ESM Chaperone’s Carlo Salerno, PhD, will be leading the session, “Using Institutional Data to Improve Student Recruitment, Retention and Loan Default Rates,” at the upcoming Maryland Association of Private Colleges and Career Schools (MAPCCS) event.

Salerno will discuss Cohort Default Rates (CDRs) and the factors the drive institutions’ CDRs.  He will also provide examples of how pulling information together and analyzing data from traditionally stove-piped school units (e.g. financial aid, student information systems and career placement services) can be used to help strengthen enrollment management and mitigate regulatory risk.

The MAPCCS annual conference takes place December 1st and 2nd at the Crown Plaza in Timonium, Maryland.

Additionally, Salerno spoke at a handful of education conferences in November.  He participated on two panels at the North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NCASFAA) 2011 Fall Conference where he discussed ways to use data to improve institutional strategic decision making.  Sessions included “Tackling and Blocking Administrative Burdens” and “Leveraging Institutional Data and Department of Education Resources to Help First-Generation College Students Cross the Finish Line.”

Salerno also presented the session “Past is Prologue: Understanding Higher Education Trends to Anticipate Tomorrow’s Opportunities” at the National Council of Higher Education Loan Programs (NCHELP) 2011 Knowledge Symposium.
